Mooring Inspection — 5/6/20
This mooring is in very good shape. Charlie switched the mooring ball to a (used) orange Polyform buoy, new Polyform shackle, new pendant, new pendant shackle, new swivel.
The shackle at the mushroom anchor is worn & corroded but is not in danger of failing yet.
Boats using this mooring in large storms are likely to experience shock loading due to the chain rode being all 3/8" chain & slightly under 2:1 scope. The light chain & short rode scope causes more wear & restricts the max boat size more than what's typical. There are no moorings close enough nearby where short scope is necessary, & the mooring isn't protected enough to warrant short scope.
This mooring is scheduled to be moved slightly deeper (SW direction). Assuming 2' more depth, recommend installing 33' of 1/2" bottom chain & cutting existing 3/8" top chain to 9' length.
Cursory Mooring Ball Inspection — 11/19/19
This mooring ball is in great shape with no problems. Even the pickup buoy is secured with good line!
Recommend marking the mooring ball with "RSYC".
